Where To Share Blog Posts After Publishing For Promotion

Being a blogger, we work day and night to write quality content, and later on wait for people to come and read our content. An easy way to get traffic is by making your content search engine friendly, and let people find your content organically. Though, it doesn’t happen all the time that your content will rank higher in search engine, and sometimes many of our best content gets un-noticed. A good idea is to manually promote your post by sharing it on various Social networking site and bookmarking it on social-bookmarking site, and let people know that there is an awesome piece of content out there.
Share Blog Posts
If you will just wait for the traffic to come to your newly published blog post automatically, you are making a huge mistake. You need to actively go out, and tell people that there is a new blog post, which is live on my blog. Make sure you submit it to places where your target audiences are, don’t share all your posts on your Facebook wall, as it consists of your friends and family who are not really interested in the topic you write about.
Now, let me explain this self-promotion with simple calculation:
  • You publish a new post, and submit or share to 50 Social bookmarking/networking sites.
  • Every site sends you 1 visitor, making it 50 in total.
  • If your content is really shareable, and contains something what we call a quality content, it will be further shared. Lets, assume out of 50 people, 20 shares it on their social networking sites, which in-turn sends 2 visits for every share.
  • So Total traffic: (50*1) + (20*2) = 90 visits and the process will continue.
This is the minimum count that I have assumed, and it will change according to the quality of your post. The idea behind taking this example is to explain why you should be promoting your blog post after publishing. If you have worked on building a quality social media profile and social bookmarking profile, your shared content will drive great results in terms of further share, and traffic.
I’m not getting in-detail with how to build a credible social media profile in this article, so lets directly jump to list of places where you can promote your blog post. Below mentioned tips will work for any niche.

Places to share and submit your blog post after publishing:

Google plus Profile:

Your Google plus profile is the best place to start with, as if you are connected with like-minded people, they will love to see what you have recently written. If you want to take maximum advantage of sharing on Google plus profile, make sure you share your latest post with a custom call to action message, and share visibility is set to Public. Also add couple of hashtags (Limit it to 2-3) so that others’s can discover your content.
Bonus tip: Do you know Google plus can automatically enable hashtag for your post and this is a good idea to make your status updates more discoverable. To enable this feature go to your Google+ settings page here and go to Hashtag section and enable it like it’s shown in below image:
automatically add Google plus hashtag
Google plus Page:
People who are connected with your blog via Google plus page, are the one who wants to see more from your blog. If you are too lazy to share your content on Google plus page, you can automate the process using Hootsuite app. To spice up your sharing, you can follow these Google plus tips and tricks, which will make your share stand out.

More over, constantly publishing on your Google plus page will help you to show your Google plus page in Google search, when somebody searches for your brand-name.

7 Invaluable Blog Writing Tips

I have talked a lot about Keyword research, and it’s benefits. One of the major mistake I have seen many people making is, targeting direct keywords, instead of long-tail keywords (LTK) . If you are wondering, what are long tail keywords, here is a quick example of difference between short-tail and long-tail :
  • Long-tail Keywords (Ex. of short tail keyword) – Monthly searches 50
  • Long tail Keywords vs. short tail Keywords (Ex. of LTK) – Monthly searches 12
  • long tail keywords conversion rate (Ex of LTK) – Monthly searches 13
Now, if you will notice that last two Keywords have less-searches, but the competition for these two keywords are far less than short-tail keyword. Also, long-tail keywords drive more targeted traffic than short one, and hence your conversion (Sales, email sign-up) improves a lot. If you want to learn more about it, check out How long tail keywords could equal massive success.
